Tampa waterspout: Incredible video captures formation

Tampa waterspout: Incredible video captures formation, An incredible video captured the formation of the Tampa waterspout. A pair of kayakers caught the weather activity with a cell phone camera in Tampa Bay, Florida. According to Yahoo News on June 10, 2013, the video clip shows it appear to connect from the water surface to the cloud above.

The video looks almost like a blockbuster action movie special effect, except that it is real. It is absolutely breathtaking to watch what looks like the water getting drawn up through the air until it touches the cloud, but actually it is water droplets formed by condensation. The waterspout is actually a condensation funnel.

The Tampa waterspout made landfall and became a tornado for a short time. In the process it damaged a home on the shore in Oldmar. The waterspout formed around 6:45 p.m. and no injuries were reported. Warm water and high humidity, when combined with only light winds help to create a waterspout.

Tampa waterspouts are common occurrences in the summer especially around thunderstorms. Only occasionally do they move on land and become tornados.
