Fourth of July accident: Boy dies after run over by dad's 4th of July float, A fourth of July accident took the life of an 8-year-old boy who was run over by a parade float that his father was pulling behind his tractor. The Edmond, Oklahoma Fourth of July accident happened at the height of the Fourth of July parade going down the main street of the town with thousands of folks in attendance.According to NBC News on July 4, 2013, the boy was riding on the float with 20 other children and he either jumped off or fell off and landed under the float in the path of the tires of the flat-bed trailer. The father immediately stopped the tractor and ran to his son's side when he realized what happened.
A nurse riding in a car behind the trailer ran to the boy and started CPR, the boy still had a pulse when he was placed in the ambulance, but the boy was pronounced dead when he arrived at Presbyterian Hospital.
Foul play is not suspected in this incident, Police are calling this Fourth of July accident a “horrific, unfortunate accident.”
